Full Speed Ahead! Brad Pitt’s F1 Movie Zooms to Rs 5 Crore Opening in India with Impressive Advance Bookings

Brad Pitt’s highly anticipated sports drama F1 is all set to race into theatres within hours, and early signs point to a blockbuster opening. Directed by Top Gun: Maverick filmmaker Joseph Kosinski and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and Apple Original Films, F1 has generated strong buzz globally—especially in India, where it’s already making waves at the box office.

Advance bookings for F1 in India have been impressive, with over 65,000 tickets sold across the top three multiplex chains PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis—for day one alone. This sets the stage for a potential record-breaking opening, especially considering that most non-franchise Hollywood films rarely cross the ₹5 crore mark on opening day in India. However, F1 could break that barrier, with current trends indicating a possible ₹6 crore opening, depending on spot bookings and walk-in audiences.

Despite stiff competition from domestic releases like Kajol’s MAA, Vishnu Manchu’s Kannappa, and the re-release of Rekha’s Umrao Jaan, F1 is releasing on a solid number of screens across the country. With positive word-of-mouth, more shows are expected to be added over the weekend.

Globally, F1 is projected to debut with over USD 100 million—an exceptional start for a non-franchise film. In the domestic U.S. market alone, it’s expected to collect between USD 40 million to USD 50 million on opening day, potentially overtaking the opening numbers of the M3GAN sequel.

Reportedly mounted on a budget of USD 200 million, F1 blends high-octane racing with drama and star power. If it lives up to expectations, it could become one of the biggest original releases of the year, both in India and worldwide.
