The Malayalam movie industry is seeing a record run at the box office with Thudarum, in which acting legend Mohanlal and Shobhana are the stars. The family drama directed by Tharun Moorthy has shown a sensational performance by recording steady earnings after its release.
Box Office Phenomenon in Kerala
Directed by Rejaputhra Visual Media, Thudarum has now collected an estimated ₹80.8 crore in 13 days in Kerala alone. The collection puts it ahead of other big Malayalam blockbusters such as Manjummel Boys, Aavesham, and Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life. The movie is now targeting the number one position by looking to beat the last collections of L2: Empuraan and 2018 in the next few days.
If the current pace continues, Thudarum might be the first Malayalam film to achieve ₹100 crore entirely from the Kerala market—a record milestone for the industry.
Most satisfying factor about #Thudarum is not its BO records.
It’s the fact that majority audience have changed their pre-conceived notion about #Mohanlal‘s face post Odiyan. Neither beard nor face muscle is a hindrance anymore. Give him strong characters, he will shine bright pic.twitter.com/giMWHCfXLx
