The story of the film Deva revolves around Shahid Kapoor, a hot-headed, eccentric police cop. The name of this character is Dev Ambre. His performance is the best thing about the film, but the shortcomings in the story made the film Deva. It has been made into a simple masala entertainer, although there were a lot of expectations after watching the trailer of this film.
At the beginning of the film, Deva is shown going crazy after the murder of his childhood friend and fellow officer Rohan (Pavel Gulati). He sets out to find Rohan’s killer, but meets with an accident and loses his memory. Now Deva has to solve the case again and find out who shot Rohan. In the process, he meets his senior and other police officers, who help him.

The best thing about the film is Shahid Kapoor’s performance. He looks powerful with his energy and body language in the role of an eccentric type cop. His performance manages to save the film, but shortcomings in the story make it an average masala entertainer. Pavail Gulati, Pravesh Rana, Kubbra Sait, and Pooja Hegde have done a good job in the supporting cast of the film. Upendra Limaye’s character also comes at a critical juncture of the film and adds shine to the screen.
The first part of the film is especially good in which the heroism of Shaheed Kapoor can be seen. The film has also maintained its suspense well till the end. One of the shortcomings of the film is its pacing. The second half of the film is particularly weak. After the interval the film seems slow and drawn out. Apart from this, the treatment of twist in the story is also not good.
The film’s director Roshan Andrews has tried to make an intelligent film which perhaps has become a little too intelligent. Pooja Hegde has nothing special to do in the film. Overall, the film Deva is an average masala entertainer, which is saved by Shahid Kapoor’s performance. Shahid Kapoor fans can watch this film.
