Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked with a knife in a shocking incident late Wednesday night. The knife pierced his spine, leaving him critically injured. Saif Ali Khan was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent a delicate surgery lasting two and a half hours.
Dr. Neeraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, confirmed that Saif was attacked at his Bandra residence by an unidentified individual and was brought to the hospital at 3:30 AM. He revealed that Saif was stabbed six times, with two of the wounds being severe—one dangerously close to the spine. The surgery was conducted by a team of doctors led by neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain, and anesthetist Dr. Nisha Gandhi.
Reports suggest that a burglar broke into Saif’s home at around 2 AM. During the confrontation, Saif was injured in the scuffle. Bandra police have registered an FIR against the unidentified assailant and initiated an investigation. Three suspects have been detained for questioning, and forensic experts have arrived at Saif’s residence to examine the scene.
The ongoing renovation work at Saif’s home has also come under scrutiny, and authorities are investigating whether laborers might be involved. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area. It has also been reported that when the intruder entered the house, he argued with the household help. Saif, in an attempt to intervene and calm the situation, was attacked by the intruder.
The incident has sparked a political uproar in Maharashtra. Opposition parties have raised concerns about law and order in Mumbai. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi questioned Mumbai’s safety, stating, “If celebrities are not safe, who else is?” On social media platform X, she remarked, “It is shameful that yet another high-profile attempted murder has occurred in Mumbai. The attack on Saif Ali Khan once again raises questions about Mumbai Police and the Home Minister.”
BJP MLA Ram Kadam also issued a statement assuring strict action against the culprits. The investigation continues, with the police vowing to ensure justice for the acto.
