Bollywood actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja appeared together in public on Wednesday amidst swirling rumors of their break-up. The couple were spotted celebrating the Ganesh Chaturthi festival at home in Mumbai, marking the first public display of unity between the two despite reports of a rocky relationship.

Photos and videos that have since gone viral of Govinda and Sunita in matching traditional wear. Govinda was seen in a maroon kurta, while Sunita wore a matching saree. The duo was spotted receiving Lord Ganesha home and handing out sweets to the paparazzi gathered outside. Celebrities such as a number of celebrities, including Bigg Boss 13 fame Paras Chhabra, who had come for Ganpati darshan, were also present at the celebration.
Divorce Rumours Spark Concern
The divorce rumour started at the beginning of this month when a report by Hauterrfly stated that Sunita had initiated divorce proceedings under Section 13 (1)(i), (ia), (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. According to the report, Govinda was called to court on May 25, 2025, and while Sunita has been attending court hearings on a regular basis, Govinda has been missing from action, according to reports. Sources say the couple have been attempting to solve their differences since June.

In one of her recent vlogs, Sunita Ahuja spoke emotionally about the troubles in her marriage when she visited Mahalaxmi Mandir. Crying uncontrollably during her interaction with a priest, she stated, “When I met Govinda, I prayed to the Goddess that I should get married to him and have a good life.”. The Goddess granted all my desires—she even blessed me with two kids. But not all truths of life are simple.” She proceeded to delineate her unshakeable trust in the gods, declaring, “Whoever attempts to destroy my home, Maa Kaali stands there.”
A Bollywood Love Story Spread Over Decades
Govinda and Sunita’s romance goes as far back as the 1980s. The couple got married on March 11, 1987. Sunita is Govinda’s sister-in-law, being the sister of his uncle Anand Singh, a close friend of legendary director Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The couple has two children—daughter Tina Ahuja, who also tried her hand in Bollywood for a brief period, and son Yashvardhan.
While their public appearance may have calmed some rumours, the future of their relationship remains uncertain as legal proceedings reportedly continue.
