Kangana Ranaut issues a public apology, stating, “I take my words back”

Kangana Ranaut has stirred fresh controversy after advocating for the return of the three farm laws that were repealed following massive protests. Her remarks, which she made during a media interview, suggested that the farmers should themselves demand the reinstatement of the laws, which she believed were beneficial to them. This led to immediate backlash, even from within her own party, the BJP.

The BJP quickly distanced itself from her statements. Party spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia clarified that Ranaut’s comments were her personal views and did not represent the party’s position on the matter. He emphasized that she was not authorized to make such statements on behalf of the BJP.

In response to the criticism, Kangana issued a public apology, acknowledging that her comments had disappointed many, including BJP members. She stated, “I need to remind myself that I am no longer just an actor, I am a politician too, and my opinions should not be personal, but a reflection of the party.” She also expressed her support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to withdraw the farm laws and emphasized the importance of standing by the collective judgement of the party.

Ranaut’s remarks reignited the debate around the controversial farm laws, which were initially passed by the government in 2020 but later withdrawn in 2021 after prolonged protests by farmers, particularly in Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh. Despite her apology, the incident marks yet another instance where Ranaut’s outspoken nature has caused friction with her party, following a previous instance where the BJP distanced itself from her comments about the farmers’ protest.

In other news, Pakistani actor Ukasha Gul’s recent mimicry of Kangana Ranaut on the show Showtime With Ramiz Raja has garnered widespread attention on social media. In the viral video, Ukasha, dressed in a black saree and pink blouse, perfectly imitated Kangana’s signature curly hairstyle and mannerisms.
