AASHIQUI 2 is a super hit at the minimum and still collecting moolah. While 50 crore mark would be crossed by the film by end of second week itself, it would also become Bhatts’ highest grosser ever other than RAAZ 3.

Mahesh Bhatt analysis the film’s bumper success.
”When we were making AASHIQUI 2, we were sure that albatross of AASHIQUI would weight us down. Still, it was brave on part of Mohit (Suri) and Bhushan (Kumar) to bring on young talent for actors as well as the music department. It was a huge challenge to pull it off but they were ready to embrace that,” says Mahesh Bhatt.
As for the audience making beelines to step into the film, he reflects, ”See, there is a new India out here which doesn’t know what AASHQIUI is. 23 years is a long time and though they may have caught it on satellite, they won’t know how the experience if when genres like this plays on the big screen. This is what we wanted to bring in; a simple tale sans anything fancy and yet so enticing for big screen viewing. Music further did the trick. We created a story which was for universal consumption. It was for people who wanted to cry, sing and smile along with a movie. It is sourced from the land where we live.”

Today when the film is reaping in benefits for all involved, his faith and trust in Mohit, who has directed maximum number of films for Bhatts over last decade, has only seen further push.
”As a matter of fact, I am proud of what the entire team of AASHIQUI has created,” he says, ”They have brought that emotional quotient on screen which was missing on the scene. This is the reason why the film is such a huge success.”
