Mardaani 3: Rani Mukerji Returns as Shivani Shivaji Roy – Release Date Revealed

For fans of the hard-hitting Mardaani franchise, there’s exciting news Yash Raj Films (YRF) has finally announced the release date for the eagerly anticipated third installment. Rani Mukerji will reprise her role as the powerful and aggressive Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani 3, which is scheduled to release on February 27, 2026.

Timed With Holi: Symbolising Good Over Evil
The release date has been strategically fixed on the Holi festival weekend that is on March 4, 2026. During the announcement, the makers made a revelation that the theme of the film a violent clash between good and evil—suited the Holi festival, which is all about the victory of good over evil. A new poster of Rani Mukerji was also launched in association with the announcement.

Rani Mukerji on Reprising Her Iconic Role
In an earlier statement, Rani had spoken about how she was looking forward to coming back to the franchise: “I’m excited to see how ‘Mardaani 3’ turns out. I’m keeping my fingers crossed because I would love to get back into the shoes of Shivani Shivaji Roy.” But she made it clear that she would only do the film if there was a strong and impactful script.

Looking back on her experience with the second film, she said, “When I did ‘Mardaani 2’, I was quite nervous because I had never done a sequel before. But to my surprise, I enjoyed it immensely.” That good experience has left her looking forward to coming back for a third time.

A Decade-Long Legacy
Mardaani initially hit theaters in 2014, then Mardaani 2 in 2019. Today, seven years after that second installment, the franchise is back with a vengeance, promising another intense chapter starring one of Bollywood’s most interesting female detectives.
