Not many are aware that FUKREY isn’t the first directorial outing for Mrigdeep Singh Lamba. His debut effort was in fact TEEN THAY BHAI which was released two years back. Though the film was a massive flop and also criticized by almost everybody, Mrigdeep wasn’t bogged down by pressure and immediately started working on his next. However when it came to starcast of the film, one wonders whether Richa Chadda (who plays the part of ‘Boli Punjaban’ in the film) was worried about the fact that his debut effort had been hardly memorable.

”As a matter of fact when I had seen TEEN THAY BHAI back then, I thought that there was some moments that were really nice,” says Richa, ”At that point I didn’t know Mrigdeep. Later when I met him for FUKREY, I got to know that he himself wasn’t entirely happy with the way the film had turned out. Smiles Richa, ”Also, TEEN THAY BHAI wasn’t a film for which people led ‘morchas’ ki picture bahaut hi gandi bani hai. Aisa toh kuch bhi nahi tha. It had a middle class feeling to it and I found the entire sibling rivalry angle really interesting. In case I don’t judge people by their past work; I judge them by their present. Unless someone out there is legendary in making bad films, I don’t jump to conclusions.”
An Excel Entertainment production, FUKREY releases all over on 14th June.
