After completing a major first schedule of Balaji’s SHOOTOUT AT WADALA, writer-director Sanjay Gupta is now back in action again with the second schedule. While the filmmaker has reveled in making stylish films that have been set in today’s times, for this biopic tale set in the era gone by, he has recreated the Bombay (and not Mumbai) of the 70s. While shooting indoors for some key sequences has still been relatively easy, there has been a massive challenge to present Bombay in its three and a half decade old ‘avtar’ while involving minimum VFX.

“Yes, what you would see in the film is the Bombay of the 70s. The entire skyline has been changed while huge effort has been put into removing new models of cars that have flooded the roads and instead bring in old models. There is also a requirement to show some buildings from the 70s, which were under construction then. This means that the iconic Air India and Oberoi buildings would be seen as never before. Of course this requires high quality VFX,” says Sanjay Gupta.

Some such sequences involve key protagonists like John Abraham and Manoj Bajpai running in the middle of the road. Now the challenge for the technical crew was to keep the authenticity of the era gone by intact without disrupting the flow of the sequence.
Also starring Anil Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Sonu Sood, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ronit Roy and Ranjeet along with Bipasha Basu, SHOOTOUT AT WADALA is all set for January 2013 release.
