In her Instagram caption, Sushmita reminisced about the life-altering moment on May 21, 1994, in Manila when she was the first Indian to win the Miss Universe title. “A historic victory that took an 18-year-old Indian girl to the Universe… opening doors to possibilities,” she captioned. Sushmita appreciated her parents and supporters, besides expressing affection for her Filipino fans and friend Carolina Gomez, the runner-up from Miss Colombia.
