A recent Peacock documentary, Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy, exposed disturbing information about the late actor’s fatal demise. The documentary brought to light the accidental overdose of Perry on October 28, 2023, and the involvement of three people who were convicted of causing his death.
Ketamine Abuse and Medical Negligence
Ex-U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada revealed that Dr. Salvador Plasencia gave ketamine to Perry’s live-in aide, Kenneth Iwamasa, who was not medically trained. The documentary accuses Plasencia of even giving the drug to Perry in a parking lot in Long Beach, demonstrating sheer disregard for medical ethics.

Under the plea deal with the Department of Justice, Iwamasa administered Perry six to eight doses of ketamine per day from October 24 to October 27, 2023. Even after observing negative side effects, such as instances when Perry looked like he was frozen, the doctor kept providing the substance, which was obtained from Jasveen Sangha, referred to as the “Ketamine Queen.”
The Fatal Dose
It is said that, on the morning of Perry’s death, Iwamasa injected him with ketamine once at 8:30 a.m. and once more at 12:45 p.m. Unfortunately, Perry then asked for another one, allegedly saying to Iwamasa that he should “shoot me up with a big one.” That last dose killed him, and Perry was found lifeless outside his jacuzzi.
Exploitation of a Hollywood Star
Estrada asserts that the individuals involved exploited Perry’s vulnerability, administering high doses of ketamine in spite of his heavy risk factors. The news in the documentary has evoked shock and rage with many wondering how medical staff could facilitate such drug abuse.
With the investigation into Perry’s death still ongoing, Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy is a grim reminder of the risks of drug use and doctor negligence in Hollywood.
