The trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites, the final installment in the beloved horror franchise, has dropped and it promises to be the darkest chapter yet. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as Ed and Lorraine Warren, the real-life paranormal investigators, taking on what is described as their most terrifying case: the haunting of the Smurl family.
Warrens Face Their Most Chilling Case
Set in 1986, the Warrens investigate the home of Janet and Jack Smurl, where a demon has tormented the family for over a decade. From physical attacks to psychological terror, the case is portrayed as the one that pushed the couple to their limits. The trailer teases, “Discover why this case was their last,” hinting at a haunting that leaves permanent scars.

Iconic Callbacks and New Scares
The promo begins with Ed showcasing their infamous room of cursed objects, including Valak’s painting and the haunted doll Annabelle. A disturbing moment follows when Lorraine sees a mysterious hand on their daughter’s shoulder. Floating dolls, blood-filled sinks, and terrifying demonic encounters escalate the tension, culminating in a demon whispering to Lorraine, “We’ve been waiting so patiently for you.”
Bittersweet Goodbyes From the Cast
Vera Farmiga shared her fondness for co-star Patrick Wilson, saying she’ll miss him as a “fun scene partner” who “vibes with my brain.” Wilson, too, got emotional, recalling their 12-year journey: “I can’t imagine not doing a movie with her.”
