Kanguva editor Nishadh Yusuf found d*ad at his residence in Kochi

Nishadh Yusuf, the eminent film editor, died at the age of 43 on Wednesday, October 20. Mortal remains were reportedly discovered at his house in Panampilly Nagar in Kochi around 2 AM, according to an India Today article. The policemen and inspectors quickly arrived at his apartment and carried out an inquiry to determine the cause of death. The Film Employees Federation of Kerala confirmed Nishadh’s death to India Today.

They posted on their Facebook page: “Famous film editor Nishadh Yusuf, 43, died. His body was found at a flat in Panampally Nagar, Kochi this morning. He was a native of Haripad. His editing of the film Thallumala won him the state’s best cinematographer award in 2022.”

The post further read, “The film world cannot tolerate the sudden death of Nishadh Yusuf, a film editor who was highly influential in determining the present outlook of the newly forming Malayalam cinema.”

Nishadh Yusuf is considered one of the famous film editors in India. He has worked on various successful films like Thallumaala, Unda, One, Saudi Vellakka, Adios Amigos and signed his most high-profile film last year with the pan-India film Kanguva, which stars Suriya, Bobby Deol, and Disha Patani.

The movie is scheduled for release on November 14. According to an article published by FEFKA, the deceased editor had many other movies in the pipeline. The debuting film, Bazooka, which stars Mammootty, and the upcoming movie Alappuzha Gymkhana were being edited by him. He was also editing Mohanlal’s L360, as per some reports.

The editor of Kanguva, who died early, is survived by his children and wife.
