From peppy TV show host to superstar
Nayanthara started off as a TV show host and switched to acting. She made her film debut with the box office hit Malayalam film Manassinakkare which single-handedly launched her career. Thereon, with films like Ayya, Chandramukhi, Ghajini, Bodyguard, and Super, she became a leading actress in South Indian cinema. Her performance in these films earned her the title Lady Superstar of Indian Cinema.
The cross-linguistic Star and Unbeatable Presence
In 2023, with the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan, she made her Bollywood debut and was part of a film which crossed the 1000 crore mark at the box office. Now she has become one of the highest-paid actresses in India, owing to the fact that she slides in and out of languages and genres with such resounding ease. Reportedly, she charges around 10 crore per film and was paid 5 crore just for a cameo that lasted some 50 seconds in an ad.
Nayanthara was in a commitment with director Vignesh Shivan for many years before they entered marriage in June 2022. In October 2022, through surrogacy, the couple welcomed twin children: Uyir and Ulagam. As of now, Nayanthara spends her time with her family.
Nayanthara has a schedule ahead of her for movies set in 2025 that include Test, Mannaangatti Since 1960, Toxic, Kiss, and Raakayie, with expectations of adding to iconic appearances from the noted actress.
