The iconic 1980s television show Fauji, which launched Shah Rukh Khan’s acting career, is set to make a comeback with a sequel titled Fauji 2. After 36 years, this new version of the series has been officially announced, with Ankita Lokhande’s husband, Vicky Jain, starring in the lead role. Fauji 2 is a modernized take on the original, and it will be aired on India’s national broadcaster, Doordarshan, just like its predecessor.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the news on social media, revealing that Vicky Jain will not only act in the series but also co-produce it alongside Sandeep Singh. The sequel will feature actress Gauahar Khan in a significant role as well. The original Fauji show, which was released in 1988 and directed by Lt. Col. Raj Kumar Kapoor, followed a group of young Indian Army recruits as they navigated the challenges and adventures of military life, with Shah Rukh Khan’s character, Abhimanyu Rai, becoming an iconic role.

Fauji 2 is expected to introduce a fresh set of 12 actors to the audience. Taran Adarsh also disclosed that the title track will feature Sonu Nigam’s voice, while the series will include a total of eleven songs composed by Shreyas Puranik. Sharad Kelkar will lend his voice for the show’s narration, and the project will be directed by Abhinav Pareek.
The original Fauji became a massive hit and continues to be remembered fondly by fans. With its return, Fauji 2 aims to capture the spirit of the original show while appealing to a modern audience.
