The Bollywood megastar lauded India for becoming the world’s fourth-largest economy and paid tribute to the Indian armed forces, referring to them as ‘Agniveers’.
India Emerges as Fourth-Largest Economy
In a patriotic post, Bachchan highlighted India’s recent economic milestone. Sharing GDP data of the top economies, he wrote, “T 5390(ii) – ! India 4th largest economy in the World.. USA, China, Germany, India.. and 2.5 – 3 yrs will become 3rd largest…” He cited the United States’ GDP at $30.51 trillion, China at $19.23 trillion, Germany at $4.74 trillion, and India’s approximate GDP as $4 trillion. His optimistic outlook suggests that India may soon surpass Germany to claim the third position globally.
Poetic Tribute to India and Its Soldiers
In another post, the 82-year-old actor quoted a reflective verse from his father, the renowned poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan. He wrote in Hindi: “Who does he blame, And to whom should I tell my sorrow, When soil does injustice to soil” a powerful metaphor reflecting both pain and resilience. His poetic choice underscores his emotional connection to the country’s sacrifices and achievements.
Bachchan also paid homage to Indian soldiers, calling them ‘Agniveers’ a term closely associated with the new military recruitment scheme, Agnipath. His recognition of the armed forces as protectors of the nation resonated with many fans and patriots online.
Comment on Operation Sindoor and Pahalgam Attack
Recently, the actor also commented on India’s covert military action, Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Though initially silent, Bachchan broke his silence after the tragic Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 civilians, mostly tourists. On May 11, he shared a detailed note condemning the violence and expressing solidarity with the victims and their families.
