Bollywood Box Office Report Of The Week: 28th Mar 2019

This coming Friday will witness an interesting clash between, Chuck Russel's JUNGLEE and Salman Khan's home production (Salma Khan produced) NOTEBOOK and Eros International's GONE KESH.

This coming Friday will witness an interesting clash between, Chuck Russel’s JUNGLEE and Salman Khan’s home production (Salma Khan produced) NOTEBOOK and  Eros International’s GONE KESH. It is but obvious that the front runner will be Vidyut Jamwal’s JUNGLEE while NOTEBOOK will have to rely on Salman’s promotion and goodwill amongst the audience.

Checking out, the premier Holi release,  Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer, KESARI, after a bumper opening day (best of 2019), the film maintained well but could not quite put up the same level of collections. Having said that KESARI will cross the century mark before the end of the extended (8-day) week. KESARI has performed well in the overseas (especially US) grossing nearly $2m with £160,000 from UK and $900,000 from the US during the opening weekend (22-23 March). The other release of the same week, Ronnie Screwvala’s MARD KO DARD NAHI HOTA is a washout.

All the earlier releases,  Tigmanshu Dhulia’s MILAN TALKIES ,  the  Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra directed MERE PYAARE PRIME MINISTER, Ritesh Batra’s Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer, PHOTOGRAPH and Krishna Abhishek’s SHARMAJI KI LAG GAYI etc,  have failed at the box-office. Comparatively speaking the best performance came from PHOTOGRAPH (1.25 crore) followed by MILAN TALKIES (1 crore).

Moving on, Red Chillies and Azure Entertainment’s Amitabh-Taapsee starrer, BADLA, the film saw a rock steady second week collecting 5.50 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unrecieved), 1 crore from Ahmedabad, 35 lakhs from Surat,  30.50 lakhs from Baroda, 11.25 lakhs from Rajkot, 2 crore from Pune, 14.50 lakhs from Nasik, 15 lakhs from Goa,  3.50 lakhs from Belgaum, 3 crore from Delhi city, 80 lakhs from Noida,  50 lakhs  from Ghaziabad,  17.75lakhs from Kanpur, 40.25 lakhs from Lucknow, 10 lakhs from Agra, 7 lakhs from Allahabad, 12.75 lakhs from Dehradun, 1 crore from Gurgaon, 22 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.50 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 3 lakhs from Panipat,  21.25 lakhs from Chandigarh, 6.25 lakhs from Jalandhar, 4 lakhs from Patiala, 8 lakhs from Amritsar, 14.55 lakhs from Ludhiana, 2.55 lakhs from Bhatinda,  2 lakhs from Ambala, 4 lakhs from Jammu, 1.50 crore  from Calcutta, 9 lakhs from Siliguri, 11.50 lakhs from Patna, 3.55 lakhs from Dhanbad, 9 lakhs from Ranchi, 11.25 lakhs from Bhubaneshwar, 12.25 lakhs from Guwahati, 2 lakhs from Muzaffarpur, 25 lakhs from Nagpur, 20 lakhs from Raipur, 35 lakhs from Indore, 8 lakhs from Gwalior, 20 lakhs from Bhopal, 45 lakhs  from Jaipur(collections from 3 cinemas unrecieved), 9.75 lakhs from Jodhpur, 4.50 lakhs from Ajmer, 1.25 lakhs from Bikaner, 8 lakhs from Kota, 10 lakhs from Udaipur, 70 lakhs from Hyderabad, 11 lakhs from Aurangabad, 1.75 crore  from Bangalore, 6.55 lakhs from Mangalore, 6.25 lakhs from Mysore, 2.75 lakhs from Vijayawada, 7 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 15.25 lakhs from Madras, 1.50 lakhs from Coimbatore and 3.50 lakhs from Kochi.  Adding 30 crore during its second week , BADLA has netted 68  crore in two weeks from India  and is a clean hit ! BADLA is also on a good overseas run (great in US) grossing over $4m with  £210,000 from UK and $1,715,000 from the US till the third weekend (22-24 March).

Adding a further 10  crore, LUKA CHUPPI has netted 82 crore in three weeks from India and is a hit. LUKA CHUPPI has also performed very well in the overseas (especially US)  grossing £140,000 from UK and $975,000 from the US.

With another 6 crore, TOTAL DHAMAAL has netted 150 crore four weeks from India and is a hit plus. TOTAL DHAMAAL is a good overseas hit grossing $6m plus with £515,000 from UK and $2,150,000 from the US.
