He may have gone all violent, gory and brutal in AGNEEPATH as the antagonist. However Sanjay Dutt is now all set to get into the other side of law with his next biggie – DEPARTMENT. For audience too it would be a new Dutt in motion as he hasn’t played cop for ages. Since his comedies like RASCALS, CHATUR SINGH TWO STAR and NO PROBLEM hardly enticed them enough, they are gearing up to see what Dutt has to offer now while donning a ‘khakhi’.

Says an insider, ”Everyone is donning a uniform this year, right from experienced actors like Aamir Khan (TALAASH), Akshay Kumar (ROWDY RATHORE), Salman Khan (DABANGG 2) and Anil Kapoor (SHOOTOUT AT WADALA) to a relative new entrant like Sonu Sood (MAXIMUM). Now it is time for Baba to show his true colours. He has rocked in DEPARTMENT and would make a smooth transition from being a villain to a hero. The one who is all set to be benefit is Ram Gopal Varma who would be happy to get a bona-fide hit under his belt.”

However, since DEPARTMENT is a cop flick, many have wondered if this would end up being a deja vu of sorts for the audience since Ramu had explored this genre in films like AB TAK CHAPPAN, COMPANY, SHIVA and CONTRACT earlier on.
The insider adds, ”Don’t worry, this one has an altogether different storyline, setting and narrative. Moreover with Dutt back in the scheme of things in a big way, there is renewed curiosity around him and the film all over again. You would now hear a lot about both over next few months. Since the film too has been pushed to June, there is ample time to promote it in a right manner.”
Well, we wait to see that as well as the film marches towards the D-day.
