Anand Bakshi was a master of penning lyrics, within minutes, he could write to the tunes of music directors and in the process many a times he would  cram mindless words like Dum Maro Dum…., Achcha To Hum Chalte Hain….Mere Jeevan Sathi Pyar Kiye Ja… etc incidentally the songs would prove hit.

One such song that he set to the tune of Laxmikant-Pyarelal was for the movie AMIR GARIB (1974) staring Dev Anand and Hema Malani. The song was Baith Ja Baith Gayi, Khadi Ho Ja Khadi Ho Gayi;  Ghum Ja Ghum Gayi….

Though the song became quite popular but Kavi Pradeep, who wrote the classic patriotic song Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo … was deeply hurt by the decline of poetry in Bollywood.

Readers may know that Kavi Pradeep was crowned the title of National Poet for his philosophical and meaningful lyrics. His songs like Aao Bachcho Tumhein Dikhayen … Dekh Tere Sansar Ki Halat Kya Ho Gayi…. Main To Aarti Utaron…. etc are still considered cornerstone of Indian cinema.

Hence, when Pradeep encountered Anand Bakshi, once in a party, he literally abused him for disgracing the standards of poetry in Indian Cinema. Bakshi however did not utter a single word but decided to write songs that would tight lip his critics.

Few years later he wrote a beautiful song Aadmi Musafir Hai… (APNAPAN). Kavi Pradeep was overwhelmed by its lyrics and called Bakshi and praised him for reinstating the pride of film lyrics in cinema!
