TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA is making a steady progress towards the 20 crores mark just in India. Now that the movie has worked with the audience, its lead actor Riteish Deshmukh is heaving a sigh of relief. After all this is the best wedding gift that he could have hoped for.

“Yes, it was important for me that TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA works since it wasn’t a DHAMAAL or a MASTI or a HOUSEFULL. It was more about a journey of two characters with elements of fun and romance thrown in. Moreover this was a love story set in a small town which is largely presumed as a hindrance since there are no skyscrapers in the background to camouflage an average scene. However it was the small town feel that I loved and hoped that audience would give a thumbs-up as well. Fortunately that has happened,” says Riteish.

CHECK OUT: Riteish finally accepted as a solo hero

This wasn’t his first experience with a film set in a small town though. Earlier he was a key character in Priyadarshan’s MALAMAAL WEEKLY which was again set in a village and had done well at the box office. While yet again it was his gut instinct about TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA which is reaping benefits for him, one wonders whether as a real life ‘jodi’, he along with Genelia D’Souza had devised certain scenes together to bring on their real life magic.

“Well, not really,” says Riteish after a brief pause, “We trusted our director Mandeep to do his job. As actors, Genelia and I hardly suggest anything to anyone. Mandeep gave us a space to explore while Genelia and I interpreted our respective characters. Beyond that it was upon the director to put together the film and producer to market and promote it in the right manner.”

While it all worked well, one now waits to see if the same team returns with the film’s sequel now.
