So, come August and we have a film that wants us to talk about sex… oops really? Which film? One may ask. The film is Sonakshi Sinha starrer KHANDAANI SHAFAKHANA. It takes quite some time for people to recollect the name. In fact even on the music charts, when kids want a particular song, they would say the song but think very hard to come up with the film’s name.

So, what's in the name? We have had quite a few movie titles having URDU words. The following films can be recalled immediately ely Khuda Gawah (??? ????), Fitoor (????), Fanaah (????), Fiza (???), Dawat-e-ishq (????? ???), etc. But then even after knowing so many URDU film titles, KS still remains difficult. The above film names many not be popular Hindi words, but are surely words that have been used in general parlance or are part of some or the other great lyrics.
KHANDAANI SHAFAKHANA or KS as I would want to abbreviate it and please don’t immediately jump to the other brand name that has a similar nickname, you know, and more so when we are talking about sex. The words KHANDAANI SHAFAKHANA are probably used to express something specific (that would be clear only post seeing the film) but individually KHANDAANI is still popularly used but SHAFAKHANA!

So, what is SHAFAKHANA? It means clinic (???????). So KHANDAANI SHAFAKHANA should either mean an ancestral clinic or a clinic for families. But in either case, where does it indicate that it is a sex clinic or in better words it is a sexologist’s clinic?
Would such a movie title attract immediate attention and eyeballs and get converted into ticket buying audience? Well, it could be either case. Probably people might just ask for ‘that sex clinic wali picture’ and watch it or would get so intrigued by the title and would want to know, what the hell does this director want to narrate in this setup. The trailers up the ante with the humour that is showcased but it’s a wait and watch till then.
