Manoj Bajpai is still high on the accolades that are still coming everyone’s way ever since the Anurag Kashyap directed GANGS OF WASSEYPUR was screened in Cannes. While the reviews have been outright positive and the film is now ready for its India release, one is tempted to ask Manoj if the cover page of the script with a title as GANGS OF WASSEYPUR was the first thing that intrigued him enough to open that bottle of red wine.

|Says Manoj after a hearty laugh, ‘I am not known for signing a film mainly by an attractiveness of a title. Anurag was one of the biggest reasons for me to have done the film. For all that matters, he could have titled the film as anything and I would still have been a part of it.’
Meanwhile the actor is glad that he could take a quick break from the shooting schedule of Prakash Jha’s under production CHAKRAVYUH, take a quick trip to Cannes and then return to resume the shoot.

‘Soon after the screening at Cannes, I had to rush for the airport and then catch my next flight to Mumbai. From there I took an immediate flight to Bhopal and then took a five hours road trip to Pachmarhi. The entire journey from India to Cannes and then back was covered in two days flat which can be back breaking for anyone. Still, it was worth it since I just wanted to be a part of this celebration. Prakash Jha too has been really sweet to accommodate this trip of mine and that too in the middle of his film’s shoot,’ says Manoj.
Boasting of a massive cast comprising of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Piyush Mishra, Reema Sen, Richa Chadda, Huma Qureshi, Yashpal Sharma, Raj Kumar Yadav and Tigmanshu Dhulia, GANGS OF WASSEYPUR releases all over on 22nd June.
