The exotic Swedish-Iranian actress Maryam Zakaria is the latest edition to Indian cinema’s International acquisition.
In fact her Farah Faqesh act in Saif Ali Khan’s AGENT VINOD, and especially her techno-mujra ‘Dil Mera Muft Ka’ (with Kareena Kapoor), made filmmakers notice her big time. She followed it up with her ‘Nagin’ dance in BAJATEY RAHO, for a live presentation of which she was flown to the high profile Saifai Mahotsav.

However, it was Indra Kumar’s GRAND MASTI where her ‘Rose’ act opposite Aftab Shivdasani demonstrated her histrionic capabilities, apart from her dance prowess.
In between Maryam also acted in many Telugu projects, and very recently she has shot for South super star Suriya’s Linguswamy directed film (unnamed), which also stars Vidyut Jamwal.

When we queried Maryam about her interest in Hindi cinema, though she is from Sweden, she told us,” My parents used to see a lot of Amitabh Bachchan films (including SHOLAY) and also those of Shah Rukh Khan. I used to love them, and it was these films that got me hooked to Bollywood.”
Please go on, we urged her and Maryam added, ”Though I love dancing, but I also want to prove myself as an actress. Down South I was appreciated for my acting capabilities, as they were pleasantly surprised. In Hindi cinema too I would love to do more than dancing, say for example a romantic-action!”
Here’s wishing Maryam the best!
