JAGJIT SINGH |
You’re off on a music tour to US and Canada. Does it come after a long time? What are your expectations from this tour?
Three years back I was on a music tour to the US. Last year I had concerts at UK. And India I’ve been touring. As for expectations, we always expect the best. I think the ‘Inteha’ tour will be very successful.
CHECK OUT: BIG Music launches Jagjit Singh’s ‘Inteha’
You must be getting many offers from different companies. What made you choose BIG Music?
It’s a new company. I knew all the old staff who have joined the organization. I have personal relations with them. And I want the company to do well. Plus, the terms have been very good.
Could you say something about your 3 album deal with Big Music?
The first album was a Gujarati one, ‘Jeevan Marann Chhe Ek’. It has 8 tracks and the lyrics are by Abbas Vasi ‘Mareez’. The second ‘Mahamrityunjay Mantra’ is devotional. And ‘Inteha’ is the third one.
What are the points of similarity and difference that ‘Inteha’ shares with your earlier compositions?
It’s entirely new. New tunes, new lyrics, new music…. Everything is absolutely different.
How does it feel to sing lyrics written by a team of young lyricists?
The lyrics are good and the music is good. As long as the work is good, old or new doesn’t matter to me at all.
Do you have a favourite track in the album?
Yes, the last one. Kuch khona kuch pana.
