Ayushmann Khurrana is ready to come back to the big screen this Diwali with Thamma, which is one of his most eagerly awaited films ever. At the recent silver jubilee staging of FICCI Frames 2025, the multi-talented actor not only expressed his enthusiasm about the film but also reiterated an impressive list of upcoming assignments that reflect both his mass appeal and his penchant for off-beat roles.
During his speech at the event, Ayushmann stated, “As for my slate, Thamma is my opening, big Diwali release. That will be followed by a Sooraj Barjatya film which again will be for a larger audience. Then I am also making a Dharma film which also would be for a larger audience. Lekin main beech mein panga leta rahunga. I’ll keep doing tedhi films as that’s my bread and butter!”
The new Sooraj Barjatya movie, under production in Mumbai, will feature Sharvari as well. Barjatya, famous for his family-related stories, disclosed in an interview with PTI, “He is a committed and good actor.”. It’s all about obtaining the correct story, and doing it in a way that makes it look real and making it with the correct cast.” Media reports indicate that Ayushmann could play the iconic role of Prem, which has been closely linked to Salman Khan’s legendary acts in Barjatya’s films.
Subsequent to this, Ayushmann will play a lead role in a Dharma Productions release that will be a different spy comedy directed by Aakash Kaushik. Directed by Karan Johar and Guneet Monga, the untitled movie has a mix of espionage, action, and comedy packed into a purely commercial offering. A source informed Pinkvilla, “The script tick marks all the boxes of a commercial film as it has scale, thrill, and action with a lot of comedy, and the trio of Karan, Guneet, and Aakash feel that Ayushmann Khurrana fits the character to the T.”
In the meantime, Thamma is creating huge hype before its release on October 21. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and penned by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Falara, the movie is the fifth in Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. Ayushmann is playing the lead role of Alok in the film, which features Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, and Sanjay Dutt in important roles. The trailer, released at a lavish function in Mumbai with Shraddha Kapoor gracing the occasion, guarantees a bloody romance marinated in humor and terror.
With a combination of mass entertainers and off-beat films, Ayushmann Khurrana is obviously going to rule the screen next year.
