Earlier this year, reports suggested that Shraddha Kapoor had exited Tumbbad director Rahi Anil Barve’s upcoming film, produced by Ektaa Kapoor. However, director Barve had swiftly denied these rumours. Now, a new report by Mid Day confirms that Shraddha is still very much involved in the project, titled Pahadpangira, and may also take on the role of a creative producer.
The film, helmed by Barve, is said to explore feminist themes against the dark historical backdrop of the Sati practice. Described as a dark fantasy rooted in myth and folklore, Pahadpangira is expected to be both bold and original. A source told Mid Day, “Shraddha, who begins shooting Laxman Utekar’s next in November, will confirm her commitment after finalising her 2026 schedule. If things fall into place, filming could start by mid-2026. She’s drawn to the story’s uniqueness and believes it could be developed into a franchise.”
Barve initially conceived Pahadpangira as a continuation of the Tumbbad universe, but after parting ways with co-creator Sohum Shah, he reimagined it as a standalone film.
In May, PeepingMoon reported that Shraddha and producer Ektaa Kapoor had disagreements over remuneration. Shraddha allegedly demanded ₹17 crore plus a share of the profits — a figure Ekta reportedly felt would inflate the project’s budget. However, director Barve urged fans not to believe speculation, promising an official announcement in due time.

Meanwhile, Shraddha Kapoor was last seen in Stree 2, the hit horror-comedy directed by Amar Kaushik. The film, also starring Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, and Abhishek Banerjee, was one of 2024’s biggest hits. With Maddock Films recently announcing Stree 3, Kapoor’s calendar is looking both busy and exciting.
