Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj took a moment at the trailer launch of O’Romeo on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, to shine the spotlight not on his film, but on its producer Sajid Nadiadwala, crediting him as the key force behind the project’s journey from conception to completion.
Addressing the media and industry guests, Bhardwaj emphasized that O’Romeo would not have been possible without Nadiadwala’s unwavering belief in the film. He stated that producers with such conviction, patience, and commitment are becoming increasingly rare in today’s film landscape. According to Bhardwaj, Nadiadwala’s involvement went beyond financing — it was his trust in the director’s vision that allowed the film to take its ambitious creative shape.
Calling Nadiadwala a “legend” of the industry, Bhardwaj remarked that filmmakers like him are a dying breed. His statement drew warm applause at the event, underlining the long-standing respect Nadiadwala commands within Bollywood’s creative community.
The trailer of O’Romeo unveiled at the event offers a striking glimpse into a stylized and violent cinematic world anchored by an intense love story. Shahid Kapoor plays Ustara, a feared gangster inspired by real-life figure Hussain Ustara, notorious for his explosive temper and brutal reputation. Opposite him, Triptii Dimri essays Afsha, the woman whose love becomes both Ustara’s emotional refuge and his greatest vulnerability.
Veteran actor Nana Patekar appears as a relentless police officer determined to bring Ustara to justice, while Farida Jalal plays Ustara’s grandmother, warning him about the dangerous path his love may lead him down. The trailer is packed with Bhardwaj’s signature atmospheric music, stylized action, and sharp dialogues, hinting at a dark, operatic narrative tone.
Adding to the film’s ensemble cast are Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani, and Tamannaah Bhatia in pivotal roles. O’Romeo also marks the fourth collaboration between Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj, following their critically acclaimed films Kaminey, Haider, and Rangoon. The duo’s reunion has already sparked strong anticipation among cinema lovers.
The film’s screenplay is co-written by Vishal Bhardwaj and Rohan Narula, with the story adapted from Hussain Zaidi’s non-fiction bestseller Mafia Queens of Mumbai, giving the project its gritty underworld foundation.
Produced under Sajid Nadiadwala’s banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, O’Romeo is slated for a theatrical release on February 13, 2026, and is already being positioned as one of the most awaited Hindi films of the year.
