Bollywood star Alia Bhatt continues to champion fresh and meaningful storytelling as she teams up with her sister Shaheen Bhatt to produce the upcoming coming-of-age romantic comedy Don’t Be Shy. The film will be backed by their production banner, Eternal Sunshine Productions, in collaboration with Prime Video.
Speaking about the project, Alia Bhatt, co-founder of Eternal Sunshine Productions, shared that the film instantly resonated with her for its emotional honesty and youthful perspective. “At Eternal Sunshine, we’ve always wanted to support stories that feel authentic and voices that feel truly their own,” she said in a statement. According to Alia, Don’t Be Shy stood out for its sincerity and the refreshing energy brought in by writer-director Sreeti Mukerji.
She added that Mukerji’s passion naturally aligned with the heart of the story, making the film a deeply personal project for her and the production house. Alia also praised Prime Video for encouraging bold creative decisions and backing distinctive narratives, calling the collaboration a “natural meeting of minds” and the ideal platform for the film to reach a global audience.
Produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under Eternal Sunshine Productions, the film is co-produced by Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani. Don’t Be Shy is written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, marking a promising addition to the growing slate of young, female-driven stories in Indian cinema.
The film follows the journey of Shyamili ‘Shy’ Das, a 20-year-old woman who believes she has her life completely figured out. However, when unexpected twists disrupt her carefully planned world, Shy finds herself navigating emotional chaos, friendships, love, and self-discovery as everything begins to spiral out of her control.
