Margot Robbie Gifts Jacob Elordi a Darkly Romantic Ring for ‘Wuthering Heights’—Here’s the Meaning

Margot Robbie gifts Jacob Elordi symbolic matching rings for Wuthering Heights, blending gothic romance, method dressing, and timeless literary love.

Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are generating major buzz ahead of the release of their upcoming period romantic drama Wuthering Heights. While fans expected coordinated outfits and classic method dressing, it has now been revealed that the two stars have taken their promotional efforts a step further—right down to matching jewelry with deep symbolic meaning.

Ahead of the film’s press tour, Robbie, 35, gifted her co-star Elordi, 28, a custom-made signet ring designed to reflect the intense and tragic love story at the heart of Wuthering Heights. The bespoke pieces were created by Cece Jewellery, and according to the designer, the inspiration goes far beyond aesthetics.

Speaking to British Vogue, designer Cece Fein-Hughes explained that the rings were crafted to mirror the emotional bond between Catherine and Heathcliff—the doomed lovers portrayed by Robbie and Elordi in Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel. “I was drawn to the love story itself and the landscape that shapes it,” Fein-Hughes shared.

At first glance, the gold signet rings are bold, chunky, and impossible to miss. A closer look, however, reveals darker details. Each ring features two hand-enamelled skulls entwined together, framed by sharp thorns. According to Vogue, the imagery symbolizes both the sweetness of love and the unforgiving brutality of nature—core themes of the story.

Adding to the romantic symbolism, the rings are engraved with one of Brontë’s most famous lines: “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” Cathy and Heathcliff’s initials appear alongside the years “1847–2026,” referencing the novel’s original publication year and the film’s upcoming release.

The designer’s high-profile clientele already includes stars like Taylor Swift. In 2024, Fein-Hughes created a custom ring that Gigi Hadid gifted Swift, further cementing her place among Hollywood’s favorite jewelers.

Robbie fully embraced method dressing at the Los Angeles premiere on January 28. According to People, she wore a sculpted Schiaparelli gown featuring a nude lace bodice and a dramatic black-and-red train. She completed the look with the iconic Cartier Taj Mahal necklace from Elizabeth Taylor’s archive—a piece gifted to Taylor by Richard Burton in 1972.

Meanwhile, Elordi has hinted at the emotional depth of the project. Speaking to Fandango, he described moments on set when the characters felt almost real. “There’d be a moment where you really realized you are looking at Catherine and she was looking at Heathcliff,” he said. “And in that moment, we really were a part of their love.”

Wuthering Heights hits theatres on February 13.
