Twinkle Khanna recently launched her new book Mrs Funnybones Returns, and during one of its promotional interviews, the author and columnist opened up about parenting, relationships, and the valuable life lessons she has passed on to her children. Speaking candidly, Twinkle shared insights into her son Aarav’s personality, describing him as “soft-hearted” and “generous,” traits she says sometimes make him vulnerable.
In an interview with The Print, Twinkle was asked about the best dating advice she has given her son. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all rule, she stressed the importance of tailoring advice based on a child’s personality. “With your children, you have to see their personalities, and then give advice accordingly,” she said.
Talking about Aarav, Twinkle explained, “My son is a very kind person, very soft-hearted, since he was a child. Not just in dating, but also with friends and other people. I’ve always had to tell him to create boundaries because he’s so generous that sometimes people can take advantage of that.”
Twinkle also spoke about her daughter Nitara, revealing how her advice differs completely. “With my daughter, I tell her to lower her boundaries,” she said with a smile. “She’s just 13 and can be a little aggressive, so I tell her to soften a bit. Whether it’s friendships, dating, or any relationship, the core advice remains the same—balance is important.”
Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar’s own relationship has often been admired for its grounded nature. The couple met in the late 1990s while working on a film and gradually formed a strong friendship away from the limelight. They tied the knot on January 17, 2001, in an intimate ceremony attended by close friends and family.
After marriage, Twinkle stepped away from acting to pursue writing and interior design. She has often credited humour and laughter as the secret to her long-lasting marriage. The couple welcomed their son Aarav in 2002 and daughter Nitara in 2012.
Twinkle made her literary debut with Mrs Funnybones in 2015 and has since authored popular books such as The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad, Pyjamas Are Forgiving, and Welcome to Paradise. With Mrs Funnybones Returns, she continues to charm readers with her honesty, wit, and real-life wisdom.
