The Mummy Inches Closer To Rs 30 Crore Mark

The Mummy collects Rs. 28.30 crore in India, showing steady growth in week two and likely to cross Rs. 30 crore soon with a decent lifetime total.

The Mummy, directed by Lee Cronin, is continuing its run at the Indian box office with steady numbers. On its second Wednesday, the film added Rs. 1.15 crore, which is about a 10 per cent drop compared to the previous day. Over the first six days of its second week, the film collected Rs. 11.30 crore. Based on current trends, it is expected to close the second week at around Rs. 12.30 crore gross.

The film has now reached a total of Rs. 28.30 crore in India. It is expected to cross the Rs. 30 crore mark by its 3rd Friday. After that, the film may add another Rs. 6 to 7 crore during its third week. If this trend continues, its total collection could go beyond Rs. 35 crore in India. Overall, the film is likely to finish its theatrical run at around Rs. 40 crore, which is considered a good result for a horror film.

The movie has already been declared a Clean Hit at the Indian box office. It is the second Hollywood film after Project Hail Mary to achieve this status in India this year. Another upcoming film, a biopic on Michael Jackson, is expected to be the third to join this list.

Here is the detailed box office breakdown of the film in India. It collected Rs. 2.00 crore on Friday, Rs. 3.00 crore on Saturday, and Rs. 4.00 crore on Sunday. On Monday, it earned Rs. 1.95 crore, followed by Rs. 2.35 crore on Tuesday and Rs. 2.10 crore on Wednesday. The first Thursday brought in Rs. 1.60 crore.

In the second week, the film collected Rs. 1.70 crore on Friday, Rs. 3.00 crore on Saturday, and Rs. 3.10 crore on Sunday. It then earned Rs. 1.05 crore on Monday, Rs. 1.30 crore on Tuesday, and Rs. 1.15 crore on Wednesday. This brings the total to Rs. 28.30 crore.

The title of the film may have helped attract audiences, as the earlier Mummy films were quite popular in India. The 1999 film earned around Rs. 20 crore, while the sequels collected Rs. 27 crore in 2001 and Rs. 48 crore in 2008. Adjusted to today’s value, these figures are around Rs. 200 crore. Even though this film is not connected to that series, the familiar name likely helped in gaining attention.
