Ram Kapoor has made a deeply personal confession about one of the most difficult periods of his life. Speaking on the latest episode of Lock Upp 2, the actor admitted that he believes his own behaviour played a major role in the end of Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, the television show that made him one of the biggest stars on Indian TV.
Looking back at that phase, Ram said the show’s massive success came at a time when he was struggling personally. He admitted that fame changed him in ways he now regrets. Describing his behaviour, he said, “I became a very, very ugly person. Main 6-6 ghanta late pahunchta tha shooting pe. Maine set pe daaru peeta tha. Maine logon se bahut bure tareeke se baat ki.” He further added, “I became a monster.”
Ram said he feels ashamed whenever he remembers how he behaved during that period. “I’d become such a human being that I am ashamed of myself,” he confessed. According to the actor, his actions not only affected his work but also had a serious impact on his personal life and relationships.
The actor also revealed that while he was enjoying tremendous success on television, he was quietly battling severe depression and serious health problems. “Bade Achhe Lagte Hain ke dauran, I went through the worst depression of my life,” he shared.
Ram explained that he had received so much love from viewers because of his personality and appearance that he never felt the need to change his lifestyle. “Mujhe itna pyaar mila mere motape ki wajah se aur itni charcha hui ki main ratings mein highest-rated TV star ban gaya tha for a while. Aur main mota hota gaya.”
His health, however, continued to worsen. He revealed that doctors warned him he could die within six months if he did not make major lifestyle changes. Sharing how serious the situation had become, Ram said, “I could’ve had a diabetic stroke because I was on insulin three times a day. My sugar was 400, 500, 600+.”
Despite these warnings, Ram admitted that he continued working nearly 14 hours every day. He said the love from audiences, career success and financial rewards made it difficult for him to slow down or focus on his health because he felt everything in his life was going well.

Ram also shared that his children became his biggest source of strength during those difficult years. He said they gave him a reason to fight and ultimately “saved” him when he was going through the darkest phase of his life.
More than a decade after Bade Achhe Lagte Hain ended, Ram Kapoor says he has changed as a person and is proud of the life he lives today. While opening up on Lock Upp 2, he also apologised to his wife and children for speaking publicly about this painful chapter of his life, saying he finally felt ready to share his truth.
