Spider Man: Brand New Day continued its impressive run at the Indian box office on Tuesday, adding another Rs. 23.50 crore gross, which is around Rs. 19.50 crore nett. With this, the film’s total collection after 6 days has reached approximately Rs. 347.50 crore gross and Rs. 287 crore nett. Including ticket prices for 3D screenings, the overall gross collection stands at around Rs. 382.50 crore, making it one of the biggest Hollywood releases ever in India.
The film recorded a drop of around 15 per cent compared to Monday’s collections. This decline is considered normal for a film performing at such a high level. Trade experts expect the collections to slow down slightly on Wednesday before becoming more stable on Thursday. The first week is now expected to finish with around Rs. 380 crore gross. The second weekend will be important in deciding how much higher the film can go during its overall theatrical run.
Based on its current performance, Spider Man: Brand New Day is expected to become the highest grossing Hollywood film in India. It is also moving steadily towards the Rs. 500 crore milestone, which now looks well within reach if the film continues to attract audiences over the coming weeks.
The film is also being discussed as one of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters ever released in India. Since Jurassic Park arrived in 1994, only a small number of Hollywood films have achieved this level of success. Some of those films include Titanic, Avatar, The Jungle Book, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Avatar: The Way of Water. Other successful titles often mentioned in the same discussion include Spider Man 3, 2012 and Furious 7.
Another major achievement could also be within reach. So far, only Titanic and Avengers: Endgame have sold around 2 crore tickets in India. After just 6 days, Spider Man: Brand New Day has already sold approximately 1.20 crore tickets, showing its massive popularity across the country.
The film collected Rs. 58.00 crore nett on Thursday, Rs. 46.00 crore on Friday, Rs. 67.00 crore on Saturday, Rs. 74.00 crore on Sunday, Rs. 22.50 crore on Monday and Rs. 19.50 crore on Tuesday. This brings its 6 day total to Rs. 287.00 crore nett, Rs. 347.50 crore gross and approximately Rs. 382.50 crore gross including 3D ticket collections, putting the film on course for several new box office records in India.
