Jana Nayagan, starring Thalapathy Vijay, continued its run at the Indian box office by collecting an estimated Rs. 2.00 crore on its second Tuesday. The film recorded a 52 per cent drop from the previous day, taking its second week total to Rs. 33.50 crore after 5 days. Based on its current trend, the movie is expected to finish its second week with collections of around Rs. 37 crore to Rs. 38 crore.
With the latest earnings, Jana Nayagan has reached a total gross collection of Rs. 212.25 crore in India. Trade estimates suggest the film could end the week with around Rs. 217 crore before entering its third week. The action drama, directed by H. Vinoth, is expected to continue attracting audiences over the next few days. Its third week performance will be important, especially before the release of Suriya’s Vishwanath & Sons on August 14, which is likely to bring fresh competition at the box office.
If the film manages to maintain steady collections until then, it is expected to finish its run in the range of Rs. 230 crore to Rs. 235 crore in India. This would be considered a solid performance considering the challenges the film faced before and after its release.
The film’s theatrical journey was affected by several issues, including release delays, leaked content and widespread piracy. Despite these setbacks, Jana Nayagan has managed to attract a large number of moviegoers and deliver strong box office numbers. Audience response has been mixed to positive, with word of mouth being viewed as average. Even so, the film has continued to perform well during its second week.
The movie collected Rs. 178.75 crore during its first week. It then added Rs. 4.50 crore on Day 8, followed by Rs. 10.00 crore on Day 9 and Rs. 12.75 crore on Day 10, showing a noticeable jump over the weekend. Collections slowed to Rs. 4.25 crore on Day 11 before reaching an estimated Rs. 2.00 crore on Day 12.
With a current India total of Rs. 212.25 crore, Jana Nayagan remains one of the highest grossing Tamil releases of the year. The coming days will determine how much more the film can add before new releases arrive in theatres, but it has already delivered a strong box office performance despite facing several obstacles during its theatrical run.
