Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for Mousetrap, an upcoming Korean live action thriller series based on the popular webtoon Deuljwi. The series promises a tense story filled with mystery, identity theft, danger and psychological twists. All episodes are scheduled to premiere globally on Netflix on August 28, 2026.
The series follows Je Moon jae, played by Ryu Jun yeol, a private and highly intelligent writer who has built a quiet life away from the public eye. He is known to readers only by his pen name and prefers a simple routine. However, his peaceful life suddenly falls apart when a mysterious person known as “The Rat” begins stealing his identity.
What starts as a strange situation quickly turns into a nightmare. Moon jae discovers that he can no longer access his bank accounts, while his phone service has also been disconnected. Even more disturbing, another person appears to be living his life and using his identity. The writer is suddenly placed in a situation where he must prove that he is actually who he says he is.

The mystery becomes even more complicated as Moon jae tries to understand who “The Rat” really is and why this person has chosen to target him. Instead of simply trying to get his accounts and personal information back, he finds himself trapped in a dangerous psychological game where everything he knows about his own life begins to come into question.
The newly released teaser gives viewers a glimpse of the chaos that follows. It features tense chase sequences, confrontations with police and several moments showing Moon jae struggling to understand what is happening around him. The dark city setting and serious mood add to the feeling that the character is being watched and hunted.
The story also explores a frightening question. What happens when someone takes control of your identity and nobody believes that you are really yourself? For Moon jae, losing access to his money and phone is only the beginning. His biggest challenge is proving his existence while trying to uncover the person responsible.
Kim Jin min has directed the series, bringing together the suspenseful elements of the original webtoon with a live action setting. Ryu Jun yeol leads the cast as Moon jae and is expected to carry much of the emotional tension as his character goes from living a quiet life to fighting for his identity.
Mousetrap is another major Korean series based on a webtoon to join Netflix’s growing collection of Korean thrillers. With its unusual identity theft story, mysterious villain and fast paced suspense, the series could offer viewers a gripping mystery when it arrives later this month.
