Akshay Kumar’s comedy gold strikes again! Housefull 5 sees strong advance booking numbers will it be the bollywood hit of the year?

Akshay Kumar starrer Housefull 5, one of the most awaited films of this year, is ready to walk into theatres on June 6, 2025. But with little more than a day left for its arrival, advance bookings across India’s top cinema chains PVRInox and Cinepolis are not displaying much heft. Till 12 noon on June 4, the film has registered about 25,000 tickets sold across the national chains, reflecting a sluggish beginning to one of Bollywood’s largest comedy franchises.

Target: 1.25 Lakh Tickets for Rs 20 Crore Opening

To collect a respectable opening day of ₹20 crore, Housefull 5 must pre-sell a minimum of 1.25 lakh tickets in advance from PVRInox and Cinepolis. While ₹20 crore would usually qualify as good, for a film of this magnitude featuring an enormous cast, large-scale production, and a track record of box office success it is short of the mark. The following 36 hours are critical as the team involved in the film relies on a last-minute boost to gain momentum.

Franchise Legacy and Market Expectations

The Housefull franchise boasts a clean record to date, with all four prior installments becoming box office successes. Famous for its slapstick comedy, star-studded casts, and mass-market storylines, the franchise has won itself a large following base over the years. Nevertheless, viewer expectations have changed, and even such big stars as Akshay Kumar can no longer bank solely on past success. The movie needs to provide authentic entertainment to attract footfalls, particularly considering the over-saturation of the comedy genre.

International Market Poses Strong Promise

Domestic advance bookings are still lukewarm, but international markets have provided the producers with something to smile about. Initial trends coming in from the US, UK, Gulf, and Oceania suggest that Housefull 5 may turn out to be Akshay Kumar’s biggest international opener. The franchise remains popular with the Indian diaspora, which can go a long way towards boosting the worldwide collections of the movie.

The Fortunes Are High

In order to qualify as a hit, Housefull 5 must cross more than ₹325 crore globally. If it crosses ₹275 crore, it will turn a profit and qualify as a safe bet. With desperation building up and with little time remaining, everyone is looking to see if last-minute bookings and positive word-of-mouth can salvage this high-risk comedy.
