Awarapan 2 Box Office Day 8: Emraan Hashmi Film Holds Strong, Eyes Rs. 130 Crore Total

Awarapan 2 added Rs. 4.75 crore on its second Friday, taking its 8 day total to Rs. 116.25 crore and targeting Rs. 130 crore by its second weekend.

Awarapan 2 has continued its strong run at the Indian box office as it entered its second week. The Emraan Hashmi starrer collected Rs. 4.75 crore nett on its second Friday, showing a drop of around 10-12 per cent from the previous day. With this collection, the film’s 8 day total has reached Rs. 116.25 crore nett in India.

The film had a strong opening week and has managed to maintain a healthy hold even after entering its second week. The performance on Friday has also raised expectations for the weekend, when collections are expected to increase because of higher audience turnout on Saturday and Sunday.

Awarapan 2 is expected to collect around Rs. 20 crore during its second weekend. If it manages to reach that target, its overall collection could move close to Rs. 130 crore. The film is also expected to have the potential to cross the Rs. 150 crore nett mark during its complete theatrical run, provided it continues to hold well against the upcoming competition from Yash starrer Toxic.

The competition from Toxic could affect the film’s collections in the coming days. Without a major release competing for screens and audiences, Awarapan 2 could have had an opportunity to collect even more. Despite this challenge, the film has already established itself as a Super Hit at the box office.

Awarapan 2 is the sequel to the 2007 film Awarapan, which did not perform well when it was originally released but later developed a strong cult following. The success of intense romantic films with popular music in recent years helped bring attention back to Emraan Hashmi’s earlier image as a leading star of the genre.

During the 2000s and early 2010s, Hashmi delivered successful films such as Murder 2, Raaz 3, Jannat 2 and Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. His box office fortunes later declined, but the renewed interest in romantic dramas eventually helped create the opportunity for Awarapan 2.

The sequel’s current performance is notable because it has turned a previously unsuccessful film franchise into a major box office success. Recent re releases such as Sanam Teri Kasam and Laila Majnu also found new audiences, but Awarapan 2 has taken that revival to a much bigger level.
