Following initial hype and good word-of-mouth, Sohum Shah’s Crazxy has not done what was hoped of it in terms of box office performance. The edge-of-the-seat thriller, which opened on February 28, has not been able to witness a substantial increase in collections, even after the producers made changes to the climax of the film in a bid to revive interest. The movie, directed by Girish Kohli, maintains its sluggish run into the second weekend.
Dismal Performance Despite Changes and Good Word
On Day 9, Crazxy grossed an estimated Rs 20 lakh, taking its total to Rs 6.15 crore in eight days of release. The Sohum Shah-starrer, which features a surgeon trapped in a kidnapping conspiracy, has received good word of mouth from a niche section, especially the fans of Shah’s intense acting. Nonetheless, owing to these considerations, the film has failed to make a significant contribution to the box office, particularly in competition with other movies such as Superboys of Malegaon and the hit movie Chhaava.

Sohum Shah’s Association with Babbu Maan
In the middle of its running in theatres, Sohum Shah has launched a fresh music video, Mitron Maidaan, starring the legendary Punjabi singer Babbu Maan. The song should draw more viewership to the movie, hopefully luring in more viewers over the next few days. Shah’s and Maan’s combination might be an intelligent step towards gaining more prominence and popularity for the film, especially among Punjabi music lovers.
The Competition and Box Office Scenario
Crazxy is going to have a stiff competition from Chhaava, which has dominated the box office. Though Crazxy has fared better than Superboys of Malegaon, only time will tell whether its performance improves as the competition is bound to intensify in the weeks to come with other major releases such as Sikandar.
