The Drop is Real: Dhadak 2’s Day 3 Collection Reveals a Worrisome Trend for Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri!

Dhadak 2 Struggles at the Box Office Despite Critical Acclaim

Released on August 1, Dhadak 2 entered theatres with high expectations and considerable buzz, largely due to its powerful subject matter, promising cast, and its connection to the 2018 hit Dhadak. However, despite critical appreciation and solid pre-release hype, the box office numbers have told a different story.

Slow Start at the Box Office

Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, the film has managed to collect only Rs 11.50 crore in its first three days, according to data from Sacnilk. The opening day on Friday saw modest collections of Rs 3.5 crore, followed by a marginal increase to Rs 3.75 crore on Saturday. Sunday brought in Rs 4.25 crore, a slight boost but still underwhelming given the scale and backing of the film.

Competition Stiffens the Challenge

Dhadak 2 has found itself in a fiercely competitive box office landscape. The film is up against Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2, the mythological animation Mahavatar Narsimha, and Kingdom, a high-octane action film led by Vijay Deverakonda. Adding to the pressure is Saiyaara, a romantic drama starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, which has emerged as an unexpected blockbuster. Despite being in its third week, Saiyaara earned Rs 8 crore on Sunday alone and has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark domestically, overshadowing the fresh release of Dhadak 2.

A Story Rooted in Social Realities

Directed by Shazia Iqbal and produced by Dharma Productions, Zed Studios, and Cloud 9 Pictures, Dhadak 2 is a spiritual successor to the original Dhadak. However, unlike its predecessor, this film leans heavily into social commentary, focusing on caste discrimination and forbidden love. The plot follows a law student who falls in love with his classmate, only to face brutal resistance from her family due to caste differences. The film’s raw emotional narrative and performances—particularly by Zakir Hussain and Saurabh Sachdeva in supporting roles—have been praised by critics.

Uncertain Road Ahead

While Dhadak 2 still has time to gain momentum, its current performance signals an uphill battle. With powerful themes and a talented cast, the film offers depth—but whether that will translate into sustained box office success remains uncertain in the face of stiff competition.
