Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi’s latest courtroom drama Haq continues to impress at the box office, showing remarkable growth through its opening weekend and sustaining a steady performance during weekdays. The film, inspired by real-life legal events, has struck an emotional chord with audiences across the country, earning widespread appreciation for its powerful narrative and socially relevant theme.

According to trade website Sacnilk, Haq collected an estimated ₹1 crore net in India on Monday, taking its total domestic earnings to ₹9.95 crore. The film witnessed a strong weekend trajectory, grossing ₹3.35 crore on Saturday and ₹3.85 crore on Sunday, following an opening-day figure of ₹1.75 crore on Friday. The consistent upward trend signals strong word-of-mouth promotion, with audiences praising the film’s performances, direction, and message.

On Monday, Haq recorded an overall occupancy rate of 9.70%, with night shows reporting the highest turnout at 12.91%, followed by evening shows at 10.91%. Afternoon and morning shows saw 9.46% and 5.52% occupancy, respectively. These numbers suggest that the film’s popularity continues to grow even during weekdays, a positive sign for its long-term box office run.

The film’s storyline revolves around Shazia (Yami Gautam Dhar), a woman married to Abbas Khan (Emraan Hashmi), a wealthy and respected lawyer. Her life takes a shocking turn when Abbas unexpectedly brings home a second wife and ends their marriage through triple talaq. Refusing to accept this injustice, Shazia embarks on a courageous legal battle to claim her rights and challenge deep-seated societal norms.

Haq also features Sheeba Chaddha and Vartika Singh in pivotal roles. Both Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi have been lauded for their nuanced portrayals, with critics calling Haq one of the most hard-hitting courtroom dramas of recent times. The film has also sparked conversations about women’s rights and the legal system’s treatment of gender-related issues.

Produced by Junglee Pictures in collaboration with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios, Haq continues the studios’ tradition of backing thought-provoking, socially conscious cinema. The film draws inspiration from the real-life case of Shah Bano Begum, whose landmark 1985 Supreme Court judgment became a turning point in India’s legal history, granting divorced Muslim women the right to maintenance.
