The The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is performing strongly at the box office. The animated film earned USD 16.6 million on its first Monday. This was a 48 per cent drop compared to its Sunday earnings, which is considered a normal trend after a weekend release. With this, the film’s total domestic collection reached USD 207.6 million within just 6 days of its release.
With these numbers, the film has become the fastest movie of 2026 to cross the USD 200 million mark in the United States. It also recorded the 7th biggest first Monday collection for an animated film. The movie performed better than Minions The Rise of Gru, which earned USD 16.1 million, Toy Story 3 with USD 15.6 million, and Toy Story 4 with USD 14.2 million on their first Mondays.
However, the film is still behind several top animated movies in this category. These include Finding Dory, Sing, The Super Mario Bros Movie, Inside Out 2, Shrek 2, and The Incredibles 2. Among these, The Incredibles 2 still holds the record with USD 23.6 million on its first Monday.
When compared to films released in April, the movie has recorded the fourth biggest first Monday collection. It is behind Avengers Endgame with USD 36.9 million, Avengers Infinity War with USD 24.7 million, and The Super Mario Bros Movie with USD 20.1 million.
At the global level, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has earned USD 389 million so far. Based on current trends, it is expected to cross USD 400 million by Tuesday or Wednesday. After that, the film is likely to move towards the USD 500 million mark in the coming days.
