Mahavatar Narsimha Box Office Update: Ashwin Kumar’s Animated Epic Nears ₹30 Crore Milestone

Ashwin Kumar’s Mahavatar Narsimha is proving to be a game-changer for Indian animation, setting new records at the box office. Despite experiencing a slight slowdown during the weekdays, the film continues its successful run across theatres nationwide. According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned ₹4.58 crore on Day 6 alone, taking its total nett collection in India to ₹26.43 crore.

Beats Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1’

The animated mythological tale has already surpassed Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 in box office earnings over the weekend, establishing itself as a force to be reckoned with in Indian cinema. With positive word-of-mouth and increasing family footfalls, fans are now eagerly watching to see if Mahavatar Narsimha can breach the ₹30 crore mark in the coming days.

Strong Occupancy Across Languages and Formats

The film, released in Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam, is available in both 2D and 3D formats, appealing to a wide demographic. On Tuesday, Telugu 3D shows recorded an impressive 50.00% overall occupancy — peaking at 59.72% during evening shows. In Hindi, the 3D version reached 46.50% occupancy overall, with evening shows hitting 64.41%. The 2D versions in both languages also maintained steady attendance, especially in urban centres.

India’s Highest-Grossing Animated Film

Mahavatar Narsimha has now officially become the highest-grossing Indian animated film of all time, surpassing the iconic Hanuman (2005). This marks a significant achievement for director Ashwin Kumar and producer Shilpaa Dhawan, along with the team at Hombale Films — known for their blockbuster hits Kantara and KGF.

A Mythological Franchise in the Making

The film is the first installment in an ambitious animated series based on the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu. Future titles include Mahavatar Parshuram (2027), Mahavatar Raghunandan (2029), and Mahavatar Kalki in two parts (2035 and 2037). The story of Mahavatar Narsimha retells the legend of Prahlad Maharaj and his tyrannical father, Hiranyakashipu, culminating in the divine intervention of Lord Vishnu in his fierce Narsimha avatar.

With a gripping screenplay by Jayapurna Das and Rudra Pratap Ghosh and visually stunning animation, Mahavatar Narsimha continues to resonate with audiences and rewrite the rules of Indian animated storytelling.
