Pawan Kalyan’s much-anticipated period action drama, Hari Hara Veera Mallu, which hit theatres on July 24, has failed to make a significant impact at the Indian box office. Despite a strong start, the film’s performance has been nothing short of disappointing, with collections rapidly falling below expectations.
A Strong Start, But No Follow-Through
Hari Hara Veera Mallu opened with a bang, registering a record start for the “Power Star” Pawan Kalyan. However, despite the grand opening, the film struggled to maintain momentum. The extended 4-day opening weekend failed to capitalize on the buzz generated prior to release. Negative word-of-mouth and poor reviews quickly took a toll on its weekday collections, with the box office numbers spiraling downwards.
Day-by-Day Box Office Breakdown
The film’s day-wise collections highlight the drastic dip in earnings. Hari Hara Veera Mallu made ₹12.75 crore from premieres and ₹34.75 crore on Day 1. However, after that, the numbers dropped significantly:
- Day 2: ₹8 crore
- Day 3: ₹9.15 crore
- Day 4: ₹10.6 crore
- Day 5: ₹2.1 crore
- Day 6: ₹1.75 crore
With a 16.66% decline on Day 6 compared to Day 5, the film’s overall collection at the Indian box office stands at ₹79.1 crore net. After adjusting for GST, the film’s gross domestic collection is approximately ₹93.33 crore. The sudden dip in revenue during the weekdays signals a tough road ahead for the film.
Budget vs. Recovery: A Mega Disaster
Hari Hara Veera Mallu was made on a reported budget of ₹300 crore, but so far, it has earned only ₹79.1 crore net. This means it has recovered just 26.36% of its total cost, making it a massive disappointment for both producers and distributors. With such poor returns, the film has already been labeled a “mega disaster” at the Indian box office.
