Kannappa Box Office Day 6: Vishnu Manchu’s Film Hits a Roadblock – Can It Cross Rs 30 Crore?

Kannappa, the much-hyped mythological drama starring Vishnu Manchu, hit theatres on June 27 with soaring expectations and a strong first-day performance. The film opened with an impressive ₹9.35 crore nett collection across India in all languages. However, the initial excitement couldn’t sustain momentum beyond the opening weekend.

According to sacnilk.com, the film saw its lowest single-day collection on its first Wednesday, earning just ₹1.15 crore nett. With this, Kannappa’s six-day total now stands at ₹28.65 crore. Projections suggest the film might end its box office run between ₹30–33 crore a decent performance compared to Vishnu Manchu’s previous outings, but short of becoming a true blockbuster.

While Kannappa had a strong start—earning ₹7.15 crore on Saturday and ₹6.9 crore on Sunday—it suffered notable declines on Monday (₹2.3 crore) and Tuesday (₹1.8 crore), followed by Wednesday’s dip. The Telugu version has been the best performer among the multiple languages it was released in, including Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Cameos, VFX Cuts, and Box Office Realities

Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Madhoo, and Preity Mukhundhan, along with high-profile cameos from stars like Mohanlal, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal. Despite this star power, Kannappa struggled to hold public interest.

The film follows the transformation of Thinnadu, a tribal hunter who becomes the legendary Shiva devotee Kannappa. It’s a spiritual journey from atheism to divine devotion, centered around ultimate sacrifice and faith.

In a recent press conference in Hyderabad, Vishnu Manchu admitted that several impactful scenes had to be cut due to unsatisfactory VFX quality something that may have impacted the overall experience.

Still, Kannappa marks the highest-grossing film in Vishnu Manchu’s career, surpassing his previous releases Ginna and Mosagallu, which failed to even cross ₹1 crore.
