Mammootty’s latest film, Dominic And The Ladies Purse, directed by Gautham Vasudeva Menon, has made a strong start at the Mollywood box office. The mystery-action thriller, which also stars Gokul Suresh, Lena, Siddique, Vijay Babu, and Viji Venkatesh, has received positive word-of-mouth, contributing to its box office success.
The film started with a stunning Rs 1.80 crore on its first day, which made it the second-best opening of a Malayalam movie in 2025 after Asif Ali’s Rekhachithram. On the second day, Dominic minted Rs 1.15 crore, thus taking the two-day total to Rs 2.95 crore.
Industrial estimates indicate that the film would definitely achieve a very healthy opening weekend total in the Rs 5-6 crore gross regime of Kerala. The positive audience response and all-round strong performances of the cast have positioned the movie well for further growth over the weekend.
While competition is hard-hitting with the still-running blockbuster wave of Rekhachithram, the film has shown resilience and is expected to do well in the long run. The other competitor has been the film Pravinkoodu Shappu starring Soubin Shahir, but has had a minimal impact on its performance.
With an exciting blend of action and mystery elements, Dominic And The Ladies Purse is bound to continue filling theatres, with its box office trajectory over the next few days bound to be keenly watched to ascertain whether it can carry on the momentum and be able to end up well.
