Chiyaan Vikram’s long-awaited Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2 finally hit screens after a lengthy wait, but its box office experience has not been smooth. The movie was stopped from being shown in the morning and afternoon slots in the majority of its markets due to financier B4U over issues with OTT rights. Consequently, the movie premiered only in the evening, forgoing essential prime-time shows, which affected its performance on the opening day.

To make matters worse, Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2 hit theaters on the same day as the record-breaking L2: Empuraan, which had already reached ₹100 crore globally in its first two days. Vikram’s film made a mere ₹3.85 crore worldwide on Day 1, with a slight increase on Day 2.
Thanks a ton for the overwhelming love and support for #VeeraDheeraSooran! The journey of #Kalaivani from day one till now has been incredibly special—it’s etched in my heart forever ❤️

Positive Reviews but Limited Promotions
Though the initial box office performance was poor, Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2 has been well-received by critics and audiences alike, with some going as far as giving it a higher rating than L2: Empuraan. Nevertheless, excellent content does not always sell at the box office. The movie having limited promotional campaigns and the stiff competition against it also led to its poor performance.
Vikram’s Struggles Post-Ponniyin Selvan
Vikram’s last big box office hit, Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2, had made a whopping ₹350 crore worldwide. But some recent releases like Thangalaan could not translate critical appreciation into box office figures. Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2 is in the same boat, with good word of mouth not translating into collections till now.
With the holiday weekend coming up, there is hope that the movie can pick up some steam. Industry analysts estimate it will not cross ₹40 crore in its entire run. For an actor of Vikram’s caliber, this is a disappointing figure, and it shows how even good content fails if the release strategy is not aligned with market expectations.
