Bollywood box-office report of the week : 10 april 2014

This Friday will see the release of the follow up to BHOOTNATH, BHOOTNATH RETURNS, once again featuring mega star Amitabh Bachchan. Given the popularity of the first part, the good and punchy publicity and the topical election theme, BHOOTNATH RETURNS is expected to open quite well at the box-office.

Meanwhile last Friday's prominent release, David Dhawan's Varun, Nargis and Ileana starrer, MAIN TERA HERO, managed a good to decent opening weekend netting 22 crore, and is holding pretty well during the weekdays as well. The other release of the week, the Girish Malik directed Mukul, Purab, Tannishtha and Kirti starrer, JAL, did receive critical acclaim but unfortunately the same could not translate into box-office returns.

Moving on, the Shilpa Shetty produced DISHKIYAOON saw a poor run as it collected 25 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 15 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.75 lakhs from Surat, 1 lakh from Baroda (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 5.75 lakhs from Rajkot, 2.50 lakhs from Pune, 30 lakhs from Delhi city, 5 lakhs from Noida, 4.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 4.50 lakhs from Kanpur, 5.50 lakhs from Lucknow, 2 lakhs from Allahabad, 1.50 lakhs from Aligarh, 2.55 lakhs from Gurgaon, 2.50 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1.25 lakhs from Jalandhar, 1 lakh from Amritsar, 1 lakh from Ludhiana, 1 lakh from Jammu, 5 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.50 lakhs from Siliguri, 2 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.50 lakhs from Jabalpur, 2 lakhs from Raipur, 3.50 lakhs from Indore (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 1.50 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Bhopal, 12 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 1.50 lakhs from Ajmer, 1.75 lakhs from Kota, 2.15 lakhs from Udaipur, 10 lakhs from Hyderabad and 5 lakhs from Bangalore. 

Netting 6.50 crore during the opening week, DISHKIYAOON has failed at the ticked window.

Adding another 8 crore, RAGINI MMS-2 has netted 45 crore in two weeks from India and is a semi-hit.

Concluding yet again with Vikas Bahl's Kangana-Rajkumar starrer, QUEEN, the film saw another good week as it collected 75 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 12 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 2.50 lakhs from Surat, 6 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 35 lakhs from Pune, 1 lakh from Belgaum, 3 lakhs from Goa, 1 crore from Delhi city, 15 lakhs from Noida, 6.15 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 3.15 lakhs from Kanpur, 8.20 lakhs from Lucknow, 2 lakhs from Allahabad, 20 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 6 lakhs from Chandigarh, 2.50 lakhs from Jalandhar, 2.15 lakhs from Ludhiana, 1 lakh from Jammu, 30 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.50 lakhs from Siliguri, 3.75 lakhs from Bhubaneshwar, 1.50 lakhs from Guwahati, 6.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 2 lakhs from Jabalpur, 2 lakhs from Raipur, 7 lakhs from Indore, 1.50 lakhs from Gwalior, 4.50 lakhs from Bhopal, 12 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Udaipur, 11 lakhs from Hyderabad, 60 lakhs from Bangalore and 2 lakhs from Madras.

Adding another 8.50 crore, QUEEN has netted 58.50 crore in four weeks from India and is the first super hit of 2014.

QUEEN continues the superb overseas run (especially US) grossing ?186,000 from UK and $1,327,500 from the US till the fifth weekend (4-6 April).
