Bollywood box-office report of the week : 19 december 2013

This Friday is all set for a tsunami like start for Yash Raj Films' Aamir, Abhishek, Katrina and Uday starrer DHOOM 3. Despite the first day not being a holiday the opening day is sure to see magical numbers and the weekend promises to be humongous if not record breaking. Given the hype, anticipation and the extensive release, the Vijay Krishna Acharya directed DHOOM 3 is all set to rock, not only at the Indian box-office but even in the overseas.

Both the new releases of last Friday, the Naseer-Sunny starrer JACKPOT and the Dimple Kapadia and Manu Rishi's WHAT THE FISH, failed at the ticket window.

Moving on Prabhu Dheva's Shahid-Sonakshi starrer, R…RAJKUMAR, held on very well during the opening week as it collected 5 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1.65 crore from Ahmedabad, 45.75 lakhs from Surat, 35 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 20 lakhs from Rajkot, 85 lakhs from Pune, 30.75 lakhs from Nasik, 7.15 lakhs from Goa, 5.50 lakhs from Belgaum, 3 crore from Delhi city, 35.65 lakhs from Noida, 46 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 32 lakhs from Kanpur, 55.50 lakhs from Lucknow, 12.25 lakhs from Agra, 16.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 3.15 lakhs from Aligarh, 31 lakhs from Gurgaon, 8.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 2.75 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 5.75 lakhs from Panipat, 18.50 lakhs from Chandigarh, 7.75 lakhs from Jalandhar, 6.65 lakhs from Amritsar, 7 lakhs from Ludhiana, 3.50 lakhs from Bhatinda, 2.20 lakhs from Ambala, 60 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.25 lakhs from Darjeeling, 8.15 lakhs from Siliguri, 7 lakhs from Patna, 8.50 lakhs from Dhanbad, 5 lakhs from Ranchi, 10 lakhs from Bhubhaneshwar, 3.25 lakhs from Guwahati, 60 lakhs from Nagpur, 40 lakhs from Raipur, 65 lakhs from Indore (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 8 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 40 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 1.50 crore from Jaipur, 12 lakhs from Ajmer, 5 lakhs from Bikaner, 25.50 lakhs from Kota, 20 lakhs from Udaipur, 1.15 crore from Hyderabad, 22.50 lakhs from Aurangabad, 65 lakhs from Bangalore, 6 lakhs from Mangalore, 2.50 lakhs from Vijayawada, 4 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 5 lakhs from Madras and 2.55 lakhs from Kochi. During its first week, R…RAJKUMAR has netted a creditable 43 crores and is all set to be a semi-hit, given the second week progress. The film though is quite ordinary in the overseas grossing ?140,000 from UK and $167,000 from the US till the second weekend (13-15 December).

The other release of the same week, CLUB 60 has been out rightly rejected. Checking out Tigmanshu Dhulia's Saif-Sonakshi starrer, BULLETT RAJA, the film crashed completely in the second week as it collected 15 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 3.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1 lakh from Surat, 2 lakhs from Pune, 1 lakh from Nasik, 25 lakhs from Delhi city, 6.50 lakhs from Noida, 5.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 11 lakhs from Kanpur, 13 lakhs from Lucknow, 1 lakh from Agra, 2.25 lakhs from Allahabad, 1.15 lakhs from Aligarh, 5.15 lakhs from Gurgaon, 2.15 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1 lakh from Amritsar, 5 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 2 lakhs from Raipur, 3 lakhs from Indore (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Bhopal, 5 lakhs from Jaipur, 5 lakhs from Hyderabad and 3 lakhs from Bangalore. Adding another 2 crore, BULLETT RAJA has netted 35 crores in two weeks from India, and will have to rely on non-theatrical rights even for recovery. The film has also been rejected in the overseas.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA managed another decent week as it collected 40 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 30 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 3.75 lakhs from Surat, 6.50 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 5.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 7 lakhs from Pune, 2 lakhs from Nasik, 1.15 lakhs from Goa, 45 lakhs from Delhi city, 5 lakhs from Noida, 2.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 2 lakhs from Kanpur, 4 lakhs from Lucknow, 8 lakhs from Gurgaon, 3.50 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1.50 lakhs from Amritsar, 1.15 lakhs from Ludhiana, 15 lakhs from Calcutta, 5.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.50 lakhs from Raipur, 4 lakhs from Indore, 1.50 lakhs from Bhopal, 8 lakhs from Jaipur, 2.15 lakhs from Udaipur, 15 lakhs from Hyderabad and 20 lakhs from Bangalore. Adding another 4 crores, RAM-LEELA has netted 115 crores in four weeks from India and is a super hit. The Deepika-Ranveer starrer, RAM-LEELA, has also done very well in the overseas (superb in US) grossing $6.8m.
