This Friday will see the first major release of 2014, the Salman, Danny, Tabu, Mukul and Daisy starrer JAO HO. Though it is mega star Salman Khan's first release after 2012, still quite surprisingly the film does not carry the usual hype associated with a Salman Khan project (WANTED onwards). Even the music has not caught up at all. Having said that, one can be quite sure that the star power of Salman Khan will ensure at least a good, if not bumper start for the film.
Both the major new releases of last week, Suneel Darshan's KARLE PYAAR KARLE and Nawazuddin Siddiqui's much delayed MISS LOVELY failed to enthuse the audience as they preferred to wait for JAI HO (as is the norm). Just for records, the collections of both the films are nothing to write home about.
Moving on , Abhishek Chaubey's DEDH ISHQIYA managed to improve after a disappointing opening day collecting 2.20 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 10 lakhs from Surat, 12 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 6.15 lakhs from Rajkot, 85 lakhs from Pune, 6.50 lakhs from Nasik, 1.55 lakhs from Belgaum, 4.50 lakhs from Goa, 2.75 crore from Delhi city, 41 lakhs from Noida, 25.75 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 15.75 lakhs from Kanpur, 36 lakhs from Lucknow, 5.50 lakhs from Agra, 1.50 lakhs from Meerut, 3.50 lakhs from Aligarh, 52 lakhs from Gurgaon, 7 lakhs from Faridabad, 2.50 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 3.50 lakhs from Panipat, 20 lakhs from Chandigarh, 7.15 lakhs from Jalandhar, 6.50 lakhs from Amritsar, 7.50 lakhs from Ludhiana, 2.75 lakhs from Bhatinda, 1.50 lakhs from Ambala, 32 lakhs from Calcutta, 3.50 lakhs from Siliguri, 3.15 lakhs from Patna, 4 lakhs Dhanbad, 3.10 lakhs from Ranchi, 3.50 lakhs from Bhubhaneshwar, 1.50 lakhs from Guwahati, 20 lakhs from Nagpur, 9.50 lakhs from Jabalpur, 12 lakhs from Raipur, 31 lakhs from Indore (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 5.25 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 17 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 65 lakhs from Jaipur, 5 lakhs from Ajmer, 2 lakhs from Bikaner, 8 lakhs from Kota, 8.65 lakhs from Udaipur, 30 lakhs from Hyderabad, 1.75 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 40 lakhs from Bangalore, 2 lakhs from Mangalore, 1.50 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 2.50 lakhs from Madras and 1 .50 lakhs from Kochi. Netting close to 22 crore during its first week, DEDH ISHQIYA is a below average fare and will find it hard to match the performance of its predecessor, ISHQIYA.
The other release of the same week, Divya Khosla Kumar's YAARIYAN could not hold on to its super (for the cost and cast) opening day numbers, especially during the weekdays. Still the film is already a profitable venture.
